Kathryn Lorene Mason, 94, of Seymour, formerly of North Vernon passed away 12:56 AM Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
Born March 22, 1914 in Indianapolis, Kathryn was the daughter of Wallace E. and Mable Sanage Mason Sr.
She graduated from Beach Grove High School in 1931. She attended Indiana University for two years. She worked as a registered records administrator and retired from Anderson Community Hospital. She had also worked in Chicago and Middletown, OH. She had been an instructor of interns for Indiana University School of Medical Records Administration. She received many awards for her achievements. Among them, the Indiana Medical Association Award for Education. She received the Distinguished Service Award from Eastern Indiana Medical Records Association, and the Achievement Award from the Sertoma Club of Middletown, OH.
In 1980 Kathryn moved to North Vernon. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and she worked at the Jennings County Public Library and the Jennings Community Hospital.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and her close friends, Larry & Pricilla Wilson and Susan Heitzman of North Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Glenn Mason Sr., Wallace Mason Jr., and Jack Mason, and three sisters; Isadora Christine Redding, Juanita Mason, Magdalene Mason.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Tuesday, January 20, 2008 at Sawyer & Pickett Funeral Home with Larry Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A Committal service will be at New Crown Hill Cemetery in Beach Grove, IN at 3:00 PM.
