Mrs. Katheleen Bower Gee

August 24, 1931 - May 27, 2012

Katheleen Bower Gee, 80, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:30 PM on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.

Katie was born to Jack & Florence Bower on August 24, 1931, at New Washington, Indiana. She graduated from North Vernon High School in 1949, and married Joseph D. Gee on December 17, 1950. He survives.

Mrs. Gee was a member of the First Christian Church in North Vernon, where for years she was a member of the "Come Join Us Sunday School Class." She was also involved in Vacation Bible School and other church activities. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing at home. She enjoyed raising a large garden and canning, often giving the harvest from her garden to neighbors and others. Katie was active in the community as well as her children's education and sports. She was an avid Indiana University basketball fan, especially when they played Kentucky!

Mrs. Gee is survived by her husband, Joseph, their five children, Joseph Michael (Melody), of Columbus, OH, John of Indianapolis, Jim of Cathedral City, California, Carrie of Madison Lake, MN, and Jeff (Diana), of North Vernon; six grandchildren, Annie (Matt) Walls of Indianapolis, Jason Gee of Walesboro, Steven and Alexandra Gee of Columbus, OH, and Matt and Amanda Gee of North Vernon; two sisters, Marjorie Ford and Phyllis Craig of North Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Florence Bower and a brother, Alva Bower.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, with Rev. Ron Bridgewater officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and from 10 AM until the time of the service on Friday. Interment will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Donations Information

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Campbell Township Volunteer Fire Department Building Fund in care of the Jennings County Community Foundation or the donor's choice.
