Karen Sue Lashbrooks, 64, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:58 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at home surrounded by loved ones.

There will be no services at this time.

Born April 28, 1955, in London, Kentucky, Karen was the daughter of the late Elbert and Beulah (Stewart) Root. She married Charles Lashbrooks in December 1981. He preceded her in death in February 2006.

Karen worked for The Daily Times Newspaper in Pekin. She attended Vallonia Baptist Church. Karen loved flowers and enjoyed nature. She treasured her granddaughter.

She is survived by son, Tim Root of Salem and Nick Root of Clarksville; sisters, Marie Henry of North Vernon, Brenda Root of Vallonia, and Judy Burris of Pekin; brothers, Mike Root of North Vernon, Roger Root of Vallonia; granddaughter, Emma Root.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Beulah Root; husband, Charles Lashbrooks; brother, Jerry Root.
