Karen S. Lawdermilt, 73, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:56 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Reed Chapman will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service, at the funeral home.

Born on August 30, 1949, in North Vernon, Karen was the loving daughter of Joe and Minnie (Howard) Lawdermilt.

Karen had worked as an Executive Secretary for the Continental Insurance Company. She had also worked at Expert Eye Care in North Vernon, Dr. Kirkpatrick in Madison, and retired from the Eye Care Group in North Vernon in July 2015. She attended the Ridge Church in Columbus and Vernon Baptist Church. Karen loved cooking, baking, and fishing. Most of all Karen cherished all the memories made with her family and friends.

Karen is survived by her son, Josh Lawdermilt of North Vernon; sister, Anna Cheatham of Aurora; stepmother, Christine Lawdermilt of North Vernon; stepbrother, Shawn Callahan of Coryden, IN; two nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie (Howard) Lawdermilt in 1960; and father, Joe Lawdermilt in 2004.
