Kaitlyn Jo Barberis, 13, of North Vernon passed away at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, February 09, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Doug Olsen and Rev. Drew Dukes will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rush Branch Cemetery in San Jacinto.

Born May 22, 2003, in Seymour, Kaitlyn was the daughter of Chasity Barberis and Ryan Barberis, both of North Vernon. She was a student at Brush Creek Elementary School and a member of First Baptist Church. She was diagnosed at age 9 with Batten Disease, and despite her daily challenges, she enjoyed singing, dancing, music, hula hooping, swimming. She loved her dog, Noah, and her favorite movie was "Annie". She had a deep love for Jesus Christ, and she touched the hearts and lives of many people around her.

In addition to her parents, Kaitlyn is survived by sister, Destiny Joray of North Vernon; two brothers, Xavier Barberis and Ryan Barberis, Jr.; grandparents, Gregory and Peggy Harris of North Vernon and Charles and Deborah Barberis of Stockton, CA; great-grandparents, Freda Stark of North Vernon, and Clara Fore of Stockton, CA; three uncles, Chad and Christopher Barberis, both of Stockton, CA, and Matthew (Anne) Harris of Crown Point; and aunt, Kimberly Ely of Stockton, CA.

She was preceded in death by two great-grandfathers, Clifton Fore and Edison Stark.
