JoAnn Gerringer, 84, of North Vernon passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at St. Joseph Church.  Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate.  A rosary service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Services.   Visitation will be from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born July 30, 1933, in Greensburg, JoAnn was the daughter of Joseph and Opal Mueller Sahm.  She married Melvin Gerringer on August 25, 1956.  He preceded her in death in November 1998.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph Rosary Society, and Jennings Community Hospital Guild.  She enjoyed baking, sewing, making rosaries and embroidery.

JoAnn is survived by two daughters, Julia (Michael) Robinson of Liberty, IN and Anita (Jeff) Boyer of North Vernon; two sons, Joseph (Donna) and John (Kim) Gerringer all of North Vernon; two sisters, Sr. Mary Louise Sahm, S.F.P. of Cincinnati and Margaret (Alfred) Reuter of Shelbyville; one brother, Joe (Nancy) Sahm, Jr. of Greensburg; twelve grandchildren, Jason, Ben (Nicole), and Mike (Maureen) Boyer, Sara (Jake) Speer, Caryn (Jason) Clapp, Dale (Brooke) Gerringer, Emily, Eric, Jessica and Ian Robinson, Daniel (Ellen) and Douglas Gerringer; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three daughters, Mary Anna, Margaret Louise and Barbara Jean Gerringer.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer's Association, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Lutheran Community Home (Seymour).
