Joseph Alan Wahlman, 67, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 1:15 on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Vernon Cemetery. Deacon Larry French will officiate. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service was entrusted with the arrangements.
Born July 22, 1952, in Seymour, Joseph was the son of Ronald and Mary Jo (Schumann) Wahlman. He was united in marriage to Jill Mayer in 1979. She survives.
Joseph graduated from Jennings County High School in 1970 and attended Indiana University. He worked for Martinrea and was the quality control manager until his retirement in 2014. Joseph served on the North Vernon City Park Board and was a past president. He was the chairman of the city pool committee, served on the Tripton Park committee, and was on the Board of Directors of the Jennings County Chamber of Commerce. Joseph enjoyed playing golf and taking golfing trips with his friends. He was a beekeeper and enjoyed gardening and fishing. He had played basketball at Vernon Gym until his mid-50's and enjoyed playing softball.
In addition to his wife, Jill Wahlman of North Vernon, survivors include son, Jeffrey Wahlman of North Vernon; daughter, Kimberly Wahlman of North Vernon; brothers, Larry (Judy) Wahlman of Dupont, and Richard (Susan) Wahlman of San Jacinto; sister, Leanne (Vincent) Rettig of Greensburg.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Karen Wahlman.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Memories of Bigger Township Scholarship Fund or Graham Baptist Church.
