Mr. Joseph Scroggins

January 24, 1943 - February 27, 2011

Joseph W. Scroggins, 68, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:45 p.m. February 27, 2011 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born January 24, 1943 in North Vernon, Joseph was the son of Alfred and Naomi Dowell Scroggins. He married Margaret "Peg" Burgmeier on December 13, 1975. She survives.
Joseph was retired from Cummins. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, spending time with his family and grandchildren, playing video games with the grandchildren and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Scroggins is survived by one son, Greg (Jeanna) Greathouse of North Vernon, one daughter, Sarah (Eamonn) Ertel of Pekin; four grandchildren, Emilee, Ethan and Ella Greathouse and Baby Ertel; four brothers Robert (Helen) Scroggins of Columbus, Ivan (Barb) Scroggins of Franklin, Raymond (Joyce) Scroggins of Elizabethtown, and Roger (Beth) Scroggins of North Vernon; and one sister, Carol (Tom) Walp of Hope
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marcus Speer officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
