Joseph Matthews, 74, of Griffith, IN, passed away at 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.

There are no services planned at this time. Cremation was chosen. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on February 20, 1948, in Chicago, Ill, Joseph was the loving son of Joseph and Jenny (Petrakis) Matthews.

Joseph served his country proudly in the Marine Corp. He then worked for a period of time in security. Joseph loved sports of all kinds, but his favorite was wrestling. Most of all, Joseph cherished his family dearly.

Survivors include brother, James (Mary Ann) Matthews of South Carolina; sister, Patricia Matthews of North Vernon; nephews, James Matthews (Kim), and Mark (Corinne) Matthews all of South Carolina; great nephews, Cameron and Nicholas Matthews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jenny Matthews; brother, John Matthews.
