Joseph A. Kreutzjans, 85, of North Vernon passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010, at his home.
Born on June 30, 1925, Joe was the son of the late Joseph H. and Margaret S. Gasper Kreutzjans.
Joe was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. He attended St. Anne's Catholic School and served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a lifelong farmer in Jennings County and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, square dancing, watching baseball, restoring antique farm equipment, and playing softball.
He is survived by six children, Michael (Nancy) Kreutzjans, Paul (Kim) Kreutzjans, Jovita Williams, Karen (Kevin) Begeman, Marie (Scott) Rayburn and Loretta (Paul) Nelson, 10 grandchildren, Becky, Sasha, and Sheryl Kreutzjans, Nate and Rachel Williams, Brandon and Kellen Begeman, Lauren Megel, Alex and Kyleigh Nelson, and three great grandchildren, Gavin Williams, Henry Edmundson, and Abigail Megel.
Also surviving are three brothers, George (Mary), Al (Marie), and Ed (Sandra) Kreutzjans and a sister, Marcella Magateaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Sylvester Kreutzjans, and two sisters, Mildred Kreutzjans and Anna Walters.
Funeral Information
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:30 - 8:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 4:00 p.m. at the Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon. Interment will be at St. Anne's Cemetery.
Donations Information
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Anne's Catholic Church for the restoration/preservation of the historic pipe organ and the American Heart Association.
