Joseph M. Ehrmantraut, 92, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at his residence.
Joe was born in Indianapolis, IN, on February 11, 1921, the son of Martin and Rhea Ehrmantraut. Joe served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On June 18, 1949, he married Frances C. Beaty of Paoli, IN. He worked as an Indianapolis Star newspaper carrier and a school bus driver. He and Frances owned a Dairy Queen in California, and a family style restaurant in Palmyra, IN.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Joe also enjoyed boating and water-skiing, traveling and working on most anything he or neighbors/friends could come up with.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Frances; one daughter, Carole Ehrmantraut Grafton of Fairfield Township, OH; two grandchildren, Brian Grafton and Melissa Grafton Quinn; 2 great-grandchildren, Ethan and Kylie Quinn; and many other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Marion Foreman, Vera Huntington and Mildred Coon.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Research for Parkinson Disease and Macular Degeneration.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon, IN. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside service and burial will be on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN.
