Joseph Daniel Chalut, 22, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:53 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service.  Rev. Drew Dukes will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

Born November 8, 1994, in Columbus, Joe was the son of Daniel and Melanie Oliphant Chalut.  He was a graduate of Jennings County Schools.

Joe loved his dog, Nyah, working on cars and bicycles and doing construction work.

In addition to his parents, Daniel and Melanie, Joe is survived by a brother, Joshua Chalut of Batesville; three sisters, Brittany, Cathryn and Alyssa Chalut all of North Vernon; grandparents, Edmond and Maureen Chalut of Eastpointe, MI and Linda Oliphant of Columbus; and great-grandmother, Alice Goodwin of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, George Oliphant.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
