Huttelmayer, Sr.
September 1, 1927 – February 13, 2019
Rev. Johnny O. Huttelmayer, 91, of New Palestine (formerly of North Vernon), passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Woodland Terrace in New Palestine.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18th, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Michael Biggs will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Otisco Cemetery.
Born September 1, 1927, in Terre Haute, Johnny was the son of John and Hattie (Privett) Huttelmayer. He married V. Marilyn Thomas on October 23, 1948. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2013.
Johnny proudly served in the Army and was a WWII Veteran. After his service to our country, he attended Indiana State University and then began working in Civil Service positions where he retired. Johnny was an ordained and licensed Independent Baptist minister. He was a member of the former Lord's Chapel (State St. Community Worship Center.) He and his wife enjoyed ministering at nursing homes to share gospel music and pray with the residents.
Johnny is survived by his two sons, Johnny O. (Terry) Huttelmayer II of Indianapolis and James E. Huttelmayer of Clarksville; two daughters, Brenda (Henry) Schweitzer of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Marilyn E. (Keith) Lyle of Charlestown; six grandchildren, Ginger (David) Monninger, Regina (Steve) Byerly, Anthony (Amanda) Schweitzer, Steve (Julie) Schweitzer, Daemon Wolf, and April (Chris) Burks; and 14 great-grandchildren, Monica Huttelmayer, Dakota Byerly, Dustin Conover, Brittany and Trent Zell, Alex, Adrian and Abby Brummet. Renea Twig, Lauren, Rylie, Madison, Jordyn and Caden Schweitzer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, and a grandson, Christopher Michael Twigg.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to State St. Community Worship Center.
