It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Ray Scheible, aged 70, who left this world on December 18, 2025, in his home in Scipio. Born on October 13, 1955, in Columbus, John was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.
John was a proud graduate of Columbus High School, class of 1973. He dedicated his professional life to the electrical industry, initially working at Arvin Industries and later enjoying a successful career at Forster Electrical Services, Inc., from which he retired. John was a committed member and past president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and served as past president of the recreation committee at Country Squire Lakes, reflecting his love for community and service.
An Army veteran, John proudly served his country, and his spirit of dedication carried through to every facet of his life. He was an enthusiastic golfer and cherished his time camping, often sharing these joys with family and friends.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathy Scheible; his children, Staci Kimberly Rae (Kevin) Griffith, Justin Anthony Scott Scheible, Andrew Lynn Everage Scheible, and Kayla Renee Russ; sister, Rebecca Petro; and his brother, Keith (Jeralyn) Scheible; ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A funeral service to celebrate John's life will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Dale Boyd will officiate. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the time of the service, allowing family and friends to gather and share their memories of John. Military Rites and interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN.
In this time of grief, we invite everyone who knew John to join us in honoring his memory and celebrating a life well-lived.John was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Marilyn Kelly Scheible, and daughter Keri Sue Jaynes.
Memorials may be made in John's memory to the donor's choice of charity.
