John Harrison Owens Jr., 67, of Hayden, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 1:23 PM at his residence.
Born October 3, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky, John was the son of the late John Harrison and Ruth Beeles Owens. He later married Katherine Shatto Foster on September 2, 1972. She survives. He had worked for B & O Railroad for several years and later worked for Union Construction. He then retired in May 28, 2002 from Muscatatuck.
Mr. Owens had been a member of the Hayden Six Mile Masonic Lodge #412 and the Valley of Indianapolis Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite as a 32nd degree member. He had coached little league and lassie league for several years. John was an avid sports fan and loved NASCAR, fishing, wood working, gardening, reading, and most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his spouse, two sons, John T. Owens of Phoenix, AZ and Jerry (Tina) Foster of Elizabethtown, three daughters, Leslie (Billy) Krueger of Scipio, Brandi (Jim) Miller of Hayden, and Diane Frazer of Tampa, FL, nine grandchildren, Ashley and Annie Foster, Jacob and Baylee Krueger, Joshua and Alexandra Craig, and Briana, Allison, and Ashley Miller, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Information
A funeral and Masonic service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Sweeney officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Hayden Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Hospice of Jennings County.
