John A. Lainhart, 71, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:47 p.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016, at Kindred Hospital South in Greenwood.

Born November 3, 1944, in North Vernon, John was the son of Claude and Mary (Hubbard) Lainhart.

John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from IU Southeast, and worked as an accountant. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading.

Survivors include a son, Ron (Kim) Lainhart of North Vernon; five grandchildren, Wendy Sharp, Shawn, Darren, Logan and David Lainhart; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randolph Lainhart; two brothers, Darrel and Jerry "Jug" Lainhart; and two sisters, Ruth Neal and Faye Ritz.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Mary's School.
