Mr. John D. Jones

John D. Jones, 87, of North Vernon passed away at 7:05 PM Friday, August 24, 2012 at St. Vincent - Jennings Hospital.

Born in Jennings County September 4, 1924, John was the son of the late John H. and Ida Nicklies Jones. He married Millie Boggs June 10, 1950. She survives.

Mr. Jones worked for Cummins Inc. for 33 years. He retired in 1983. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working crossword puzzles, and watching sports on television.

John is survived by his wife, Millie Jones of North Vernon; sons, Brad (Terri) Jones of Greensburg, and Bret Jones of North Vernon; one sister, Marie Speer of North Vernon; Sister-in-law, Betty Jones of North Vernon; grandchildren, Bradley (Jessie)Jones of Indianapolis, and Ashley (Jon) Bauman of Loveland, OH; great-grandchildren, Lorelai and Logan Bauman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ed and Irvin Jones; one sister, Betty Jones.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, September, 1, 2012 at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Roger Taylor will officiate. A gathering of friends and relatives will be from 2:00 PM until the time of the service.
