Mr. John M. Hofelich

February 27, 1936 - March 15, 2011

John M. Hofelich, 75, of Scipio passed away at 6:39 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.

Born in Fern Creek, KY on February 27, 1936, Mr. Hofelich was the son of Ollie and Elizabeth Jean Cleary Hofelich. On July 30, 1960, he married Mary Dean Herald. She survives.

Mr. Hofelich retired from Columbus Collision, where he worked as an auto body mechanic. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching and softball. He was an avid recycler and University of Kentucky fan.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hofelich is survived by four daughters, LeAnne Hofelich Eberts of Scipio, C. Delynne "DeDe" Wilson and Andrea South of North Vernon, and Erin Goetting of Chicago; four sons, John Hofelich of Westport, Joseph Hofelich and Terry "Pete" Hofelich of Columbus, and Sam Hofelich of Hope; two brothers, Joseph Hofelich of Fern Creek, KY, and Charles Hofelich of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Elizabeth Showalter of Fern Creek, KY, and Ann Hofelich of Louisville, KY; 30 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James C. Hofelich, three brothers Leo "L. D.", Thomas and Delmar Hofelich and two grandchildren.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
