Mr. John D. Heaton
December 31, 1936 - October 15, 2013
John D. Heaton, 76, of North Vernon passed away at 9:07 AM Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born December 31, 1936 in Jefferson County, John was the son of Ernest and Thelma Cowell Heaton. He married Phyllis Hull on January 12, 1969.
John served in the United States Army, and was a member of the American Legion. He retired from Cummins, Inc. where he worked in the research department.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Heaton of North Vernon; daughter, Lisa (Timothy) Dixon of North Vernon; son, Ron (Melissa) Heaton of North Vernon; five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Marjorie Mae Brooks, and Mary Lois Gushurst.
