Jim Dalton

James Roy Dalton, 87, passed away at 8:33 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Jennings Health Care Center, in North Vernon.

Born November 7, 1921 in Hillsville, Virginia, he was the son of Obie Sexton and Mayetta Wilcox Dalton. He later married Vanalene Edwards Dalton.

Mr. Dalton was an electrical engineering graduate of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was employed by Tennessee Valley Authority for 36 years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, Kerbela Shrine Temple and the VFW. He served in WWII as a First Lt. in the 14th Air Force.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jane Allain (Martin) and Sharon Miller (Bernie) of North Vernon; five grandchildren Shannon Hulse of Owensboro, KY, James Allain of Baltimore, MD , Martin Allain, Virginia Brown and Julia Quigley all of Indianapolis, and seven great -grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 59 years.

Funeral Information

Services were held at the Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 2:30 PM. Burial and Masonic Rites will be at the Felts Cemetery in Galax, Virginia.
