Mrs. Jeanne C. Phillips

March 10, 1931 - April 02, 2010

Jeanne C. Phillips, 79 of Henryville and formerly of North Vernon passed away early Friday morning, April 2, 2010 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Born on March 10, 1931 in Monterey, Kentucky , Jeanne was the daughter of the late Ira Kemper and Mary Pierson Coates. She married Robert Phillips on September 28, 1947 and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2008. She had retired as a manager from F.W. Woolworth.

Mrs. Phillips had been a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in North Vernon and enjoyed bird watching, cooking, reading her Bible, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Hodge of Henryville, Lannie Smith of Ft. Worth, Texas, Roberta Grinar of Palmyra, and Terrie Smart of North Vernon; one son, Robert Phillips Jr. of North Vernon; a sister, Elizabeth Erickson of South Carolina; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tom Burke officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Interment will be at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
