Mrs. Jeanne E. Herche

January 04, 1923 - September 28, 2008

Jeanne E. Herche, 85, of North Vernon, passed away Sunday evening at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born January 4, 1923 in Dayton, OH, she was the daughter of Ernest Lee and Eva Mofford Herche, they preceded her in death. She married Vernon L. "Red" Herche on January 31, 1947, he preceded her in death on November 17, 1979.

Mrs. Herche was retired from the North Vernon Forge where she worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and also volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul. Mrs. Herche did a lot of work with Lou Wingert in bringing the Hospital to North Vernon several years ago. She enjoyed working cross word puzzles and watching her grandchildren's activities and sporting events.

Mrs. Herche is survived by two sons; Gary (Phyllis) Herche and Jon (Della) Herche both of North Vernon, a daughter, Kathy (Tom) Littrell of Scipio, several grandchildren; Eric, Ryan and Tracey Littrell, Trent, Chris, Brittany, and Victoria Herche, Kara Everidge, Chuck Shepherd, Crystal Baker, Alvalee and Levi Ritchie, and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Herche was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Richard and Jack Fleming, and one sister, Ruth Strong.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Thursday, October 2, 2008, at Sawyer~Pickett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Donahue officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
