Jean R. Blackburn

Jean R. Blackburn, 84, of North Vernon passed away on Monday, September 6, 2010 at Jennings Healthcare Center in North Vernon.

Born on June 9, 1926, in Turtle Creek, PA., she was the daughter of the late Emil and Madeline Chamberlain. She married William H. Blackburn in July 13, 1945 and he preceded her in death on August 7, 2005.

Mrs. Blackburn had been a homemaker and a member of the New Freedom Baptist Church and the North Vernon Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed her children, crafts and puzzles.

She is survived by three sons, Billy, Buck and R.D. Blackburn of North Vernon, two daughters, Madeline Peyton of CO., and Marlene Blackburn of North Vernon, 16 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter, Becky Frazier; grandchildren, Amanda Bennett and Raleigh Blackburn; great grandson, Isaiah Wilson; sisters, Valerie Brehm and Pat Niece both of PA., and a brother, Frank Chamberlain of FL.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home with Rev. David Brown officiating. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery.
