Obituary

JB Bell, 79, of North Vernon, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Services are private. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on March 14, 1943, in Indianapolis, JB was the loving son of Claude and Lillian (Glover) Bell. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Bowen on December 17, 1981. She survives.

After graduating high school in 1960, JB went on to serve his Country proudly in the United States Army rising to the ranks of Private First-Class E-3 from 1960 to 1966. He was a member of the Shriners Club and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He retired from Ford Motor Company on May 1, 2001, after 28 years. He loved riding around on his golf cart with his dog, Maggie. He collected knives and letter openers. JB was an avid duck hunter. JB mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Charlotte Bell of North Vernon, he is survived by son, Jeffery Bell of Indianapolis; daughter, Brandi Bell Hickey of New Albany; step son, Scott Shepherd of Loganville, GA; step daughter, Jeanna Schwering of North Vernon; sister, Wilma Gibson; grandchildren, Cierra Urias, Matthew, Kindle, and Donna Jo Hickey, Colson Leach, Charlotte Weigel, Sam, and Dan Leach, Brock, Matthew, and Isaiah Shepherd; 7 great grandchildren; nephew, Mike Coffey; niece, Debbie Mills.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lillian Bell; son, Claude Mitchell Bell; stepson, Billy Dale Shepherd; sisters, Kay Strickland, and Christine Barber.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the donor's choice.
