James Joseph Mick, 88, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:54 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus.

There will be a private graveside service at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery officiated by Rev. Chris Wadelton. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on October 28, 1935, in Jennings County, James was the loving son of Joseph and Irma Marie (Hill) Mick. He married Anna Margaret Fair on June 5, 1955. They cherished over 6 decades of marriage.

Jim was a 1953 graduate of North Vernon High School. He owned and operated Mick TV. He served as Center Township Assessor, Jennings County Auditor, and was a bank director for over 20 years.  Jim belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Jennings County Republican Party. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, and playing cards. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Rayann Thompson, Nancy (Rob) Apsley, Carolyn (Ron) Hensley all of North Vernon, Sandra (Scott) Clark of Madison, and son in law, Rick Williams of North Vernon; siblings Mary Ann (Noah) Laman and Tom (Sharon) Mick; grandchildren, Emily, Zach, Joe (Kelsey), Caitlin (Cheaney), James, Maggie (Cody), Justin, Ryan, Joel, Allie (Clark), Carly, Abbie (Kyron), Jacob, John, Jennifer, Amy (Shelby), Nicole (Eli), and Adam (Emmy); great grandchildren, Jesse, Jace, Colson, Jax, Will, Eleanor, Cooper, Garrett, Winnie, Pru, Goldie, Xavier, Jasper, Jaida, Theresa (Johann), Brittany, Jaysen, Karter, Konner, Jarikah, Carson, Mason, and Kyzer.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Anna Margaret Mick), daughter (Darlene Williams), son in law (Eric Thompson), sister Joanne (Charlie) Miller, brother in law, John Fair.

Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Saint Mary's School or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
