Mr. James Earnest Marshall

August 12, 1935 - October 11, 2009

James Ernest Marshall, 74 of North Vernon passed away at 9:30 AM on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Schneck Medical Center.

Born on August 12, 1935, in Jasonville, Indiana, James was the son of the late Noah Alfred and Cora Isabel Cox Marshall. He served in the United States Air Force where he worked as a mechanic. He married Janet White on March 2, 1963.
He retired from Net Forge of Columbus in 2001.

Mr. Marshall enjoyed astronomy, fishing and flying.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Joyce Redmon of Columbus; one son, James Howard Marshall of North Vernon; a step-son, Tony Ray White of North Vernon; a sister, Deloris (Bob) Bryce of Tucson, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Marshall of Seymour; a brother-in-law, Mitch Oden of Sauk Village, Illinois; four grand children, Cory Ross, Zeph Ross, Ethan Marshall, Hailley Marshall; four step grandchildren, Renee Dawn Hutchins, Toni Gayle (Bill) Utley, Sandra Christine (Victor) Gonzales, Ryan Redmon; and two step great grandchildren, Zachary Utley and Nicholas Gonzales.

Those that preceded him in death included his parents, four brothers, Billy Reese Marshall, Jerry Healy, Jackie Wayne Marshall and Leon Marshall; and three sisters, Rosalee Odon, Hazel Dumont, and Esther Bedwell.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Sawyer & Pickett funeral home in North Vernon with Rev. Robert Franklin officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM funeral home. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society.
