James Brooks Leach, 69, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Born March 16, 1943, in Seymour, Jim was the son of the late Duard "Brooksie" and Nora Jean Buehler Leach. He graduated from Ball State in 1967. He married Debbie Hill on May 15, 1971, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. She survives.
Jim taught at North Vernon Jr. High School. He later owned and operated Brooksie's CafAC. and Y-Not Yogurt. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed horseracing, reading, sports, and especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by a son, Nicholas Brooks Leach of Sellersburg; daughter, Margaret Ann Lisle of Madison; daughter-in-law, Sarah Leach; son-in-law, Tom Lisle; grandsons, Jack and Joseph Lisle, and Evan Leach; two brothers, David (Linda) and Mark (Cara) Leach, both of North Vernon; two sisters, Mary Barlow of North Vernon, and Lisa Butler of MS; sister-in-law, Jeanna Leach of North Vernon; two aunts, Mary Morgan and Mabel Tatlock; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike Leach; nephew, Tyler Butler; and brothers-in-law, Mike Barlow and Rodney Butler.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Funeral Information
A gathering of friends and family will be held, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service on Thursday, October 18, 2012.
