Mr. James Pennington Jr.

October 01, 1953 - October 31, 2011

James Pennington, Jr., 58, of Scottsburg, IN, passed away at 10:45 pm on Monday, October 31, 2011, at Floyd Memorial Hospital.

Born October 1, 1953, James was the son of James and Gaynell Adams Pennington, Sr. He attended Madison High School.

James had worked at ITT Thompson for several years, and following that, he was employed by Erler Industries and Moir Construction. He enjoyed fishing with his friend, Ed, riding his moped and being outdoors.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Corey) Rickley, of North Vernon; 7 sisters, Levon Henson of VA, Glinda Olds of Deputy, Brenda Woods of North Vernon, Roberta McNear and Cathy McIntosh, both of Scottsburg, Diana Howard of Austin, and Josephine Henson of Coryden; 3 brothers, Andy Pennington, Bernard Hopper and Milton Hopper, all of Scottsburg; companion, Janita Pennington of Scottsburg; former mother-in-law, Jaunita Combs of North Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Edward Wooddell will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be at Dupont Cemetery.
