James "Jim" A. Breidenbaugh, 78, of Butlerville, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
Born June 10, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Wilma (Stamm) Breidenbaugh. He married the love of his life, Yolanda (Ott), on June 19, 1971. They enjoyed 53 years of loving marriage.
Jim was a beloved member of the community, known for his kindness and generosity towards others. He was a dedicated friend and neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He loved animals, and greatly enjoyed the companionship of his dog, Sweetie, cat, Ollie, and many others who were lucky enough to have met him. He had a passion for spending time outdoors, often sharing his love of nature with those around him. Ever the adventurer, he especially enjoyed camping, canoeing, caving, and mountaineering.
Jim was a hard worker. He had many interests and worked as an earth science teacher, hog farmer, and self-taught metallurgist. He retired from Kobelco in 2009 after twenty years of employment. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jim leaves behind a large and loving family. He is survived by his wife, Yolanda, of Butlerville, Indiana; children, Adam (Amie) Breidenbaugh of Jupiter, Florida, April (Curtis) Spaugh of Sunman, Indiana, Jason (Jill) Breidenbaugh of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Autumn (Jason) Wallis of North Vernon, Indiana, Lydia (John) Breidenbaugh of North Vernon, Indiana, Mark (Elizabeth) Breidenbaugh of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and sister, Barbra Street of Brownsburg, Indiana. He was a proud grandfather to fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon, Indiana. Bishop Tracy Lykins will officiate. Family and friends may call from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Saturday, prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery located at 315 Pike Street, Vernon, IN.
In honor of Jim, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
