Jackie Riley, 78, of North Vernon passed away at 4:25 a.m. on Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Kindred Hospital South in Indianapolis.
Born August 7, 1932 in Craft Colley, KY she was the daughter of the late Elihue and Betty E. Sergent Stallard. She married Lester Riley in August 7, 1947 in Whitesburg, KY. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2008.
She worked and retired from the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center where she worked in Dietary. She worked as a CNA at the Jennings Hospital and Versailles Nursing Home. She was a member of the Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Church in Kurtz, IN, and the Muscatatuck Wildlife Refuge Society. She lived in Cincinnati in her younger years. She enjoyed flowers, wildlife, cooking, bird watching, going to Brown County State Park.
She is survived by her three daughters, Theresa Gabaree of Salem, Valera Schafer of Madison, Peggy Wilson of North Vernon and a son, Jeffrey Riley of Scipio; grandchildren, Chris Wilson, Malisa Higdon, Leslie Peacock, Chastidy Harvey, Lindsay Harrison, Jennifer Hill, Brian Schafer, Kristin Panning, Justin Cline, Robbie Madden, La Keisha Madden and Damian Riley and 13 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Kathie Murrell; brothers and sisters, Pearlie Craft, Limbille Stallard, Margie Blair, James Stallard, Iba Lee Lanham, Andrew Stallard and Goldie Stallard.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon with the Reverends Darrell Stidham, Eugene Day, Arnold Bates, and Arthur Amburgey officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, from 4-8:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Valley Home Cemetery in Kurtz, IN.
