Mrs. Irene K. Fox

Irene K. Fox, 91, of North Vernon, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Born June 3, 1921, Irene was the daughter of the late Dr. William and Estella Wilderman Weber. She married Jack Fox on November 22, 1944, and he preceded her in death on October 15, 1996.

Irene was a homemaker. She helped organize the North Vernon High School Alumni for over 15 years. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, and she served as president of the National Council of Catholic Women. She worked on the Jennings County Election Board for many years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and being with family.

Irene is survived by a daughter, Carol Sue Russell of Seymour; two sons, David Fox of North Vernon and John J. Fox of San Jose, CA; brother, Charles J. Weber of Howell, MI; sister, Janie McGrew of Martinsville; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and 5 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Irene is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Wissing.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in North Vernon. Rev. Jonathan Meyer will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 5, 2012, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, with a rosary service at 3:30 PM. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
