Ilene Jeanette Eastman Wine, 85 of St. Augustine, Florida died February 16, 2013 at the Bailey Center Community Hospice in St. Augustine.
Born in New Castle on June 4, 1927, Ilene was the daughter of Foster L. Eastman and Nettie Harmon Eastman. After graduating from Muncie Central High School, she attended Ball State University. In 1951, she married George L. Wine. They moved to Kokomo in 1957 where she first worked as a Welcome Wagon Hostess and then, for several years, as a dental assistant. Later she worked beside her husband who owned and operated several Dairy Queens in Kokomo. When living in Kokomo, she was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). At the time of her death, she lived in St. Augustine, Florida with her husband, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, Thomas Wine (Michelle); and daughters, Toni Imbler (John), Diana Brockmann (Robert), Mona Johnson, and Colleen Trager; grandchildren, Chelsea Wine, Shalane Wine, Foster Wine, Harrison Wine, John A. Imbler (Trisha), Bethany Imbler Albrecht, Catherine Imbler Shultz (Isaac), Lance Brockmann, Kelly Brockmann Hardin (Greg), Kristin Brockman Jansen (Mark), Kari Johnson Chapman (Jason), and April (Trager) Payne (Brian); 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, Judy Beard and Linda Roberts (Steve); sister-in-law, Jean Eastman Faut; and friend ('son'), Larry Mazzola.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Eastman; a niece, Linda Eastman; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Martha Wine.
Funeral Information
There will be a brief visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest City Cemetery. Officiating will be the Reverend John M. Imbler and the Reverend Bethany Imbler Albrecht.
