Mrs. Ida L. Huffman

July 18, 1926 - April 17, 2014

Ida L. Huffman, 87, of Butlerville passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Jennings Health Care Center in North Vernon.

Born July 18, 1926, Ida was the daughter of William and Lena Gintner Welch. She married Everett Lee Huffman. He preceded her in death.

She farmed with her husband and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Graham Baptist Church. She graduated from Butlerville High School in 1944. She remained very close to her class mates throughout her life. The ladies of the class formed a group that met monthly that they called "Butlerville Gals of 44". She enjoyed gardening, and was a wonderful cook. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren sharing home cooked food and making precious memories.

Ida is survived by her son, Jerry (Kathy) Huffman of Butlerville; grandchildren, Andrew Huffman of North Vernon, Matthew (Lisa) Huffman of Columbus, Sarah (Stephen) Campbell of Columbus, Suzanne Spencer and Dan Johnson of Columbus, Kathryn Burton of Columbus, and Elizabeth (Tony) Piazza of Muncie; great-grandchildren, Alicia and Chase Huffman , Olivia and Emma Campbell, Cole Spencer, Caroline Burton, and Molly, Maggie and Harrison Piazza, Danielle Johnson; one great-great-grandchild, Lauren Campbell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, James A. Huffman; sisters, Georgia Bruce, Laura Speer, and Cora Perkins; one brother, Thomas Welch.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Tom Mattingly will officiate. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
