Henny Weinya de Boer, 95, of Westport passed away at 10:38 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the Bear Creek Baptist Church, located at 3945 W. 1000 N. Westport, IN 47283. Rev. Earl Taggart will officiate. Burial will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the church. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.
Born in Saint Johannesqa, Friesland Holland (Netherlands) on March 11, 1925. Henny was the daughter of Siberen and Wiegertje (de Jong) Weinya. She was united in marriage to Andy de Boer on May 21, 1958, and they immigrated to the U.S. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2010.
As a small child, her father owned a bicycle shop where he sold and repaired bicycles in which she loved to help. She got to witness the flight of the Hindenburg. She survived the German occupation of the Netherlands, of which she did share some memories. After Andy and Henny immigrated to the U.S., they eventually moved to Jennings County in 1976. She had worked at Oxford Industries for several years and Walmart for more than 15 years as a greeter and in the fabrics department.
She is survived by her two daughters; Wilma (Paul) Marcoux and Janet Price, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Jeremy (Courtney) Hermann, Nicholas Hermann, Kyle (Mikayla) Price, Emily and Andrew Price, Tyler and Cailianna Marcoux. Three great-granddaughters, Kynleigh, Kaydense, and Paisley Price.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Sieberen and Weigertije Weinya; husband, Andy de Boer; brother, Meine Weinya; sister, Gaaske Bremer.
Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
