Helen R. Hauersperger, 81 of North Vernon, passed away at 1:38 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Jennings Healthcare Facility in North Vernon.
Born July 29, 1931 in Jennings County, Helen was the daughter of the late Henry and Rose Megel Elsner. She attended Hayden High School and later married Delbert Hauersperger on January 15, 1951 in Jennings County and he survives.
Helen was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and been one of the original eight ladies who founded the funeral dinners provided at St. Mary's in North Vernon. Other memberships included Delta Theta Tau and the Daughters of Isabella. She had been a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, making floral arrangements, collecting birdhouses, snowmen, and related items. She especially enjoyed being with her family and attending the various sporting events in whicher her children and grandchildren participated.
Survivors include her husband, Delbert Hauersperger of North Vernon; a daughter, Jane (Herb Patterson) Treadway of Evansville; three sons, Jeff (Leeann) Hauersperger of Martinsville, Jamie (Vicki) Hauersperger of North Vernon, and Joe (Beth) Hauersperger of Louisville, KY; a brother, Oscar (Evelyn) Elsner of North Vernon; 10 grandchildren, Heather (Mike) Azbill, Krystal (Brian) McBride, Jarrin Moore, Samantha Dantz, Natalie, Jerett, Jack, Nate, Sarah, and Dawson Hauersperger; five great-grandchildren, Zoey Dantz, Anna Chirtea, Nicholas and Ariel Treadway, and Kiley Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jerry Hauersperger; four grandchildren, Tim Treadway, Joshua, Justin and Jesse Hauersperger; four sisters, Irene Vogel, Martha French, Stella Vogel, and Agnes Cardinal; four brothers, Ambrose, Carl, Omer and Paul Elsner.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Fr. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service with a Rosary Service being held at 3:30. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
