Helen Mae Rogers, 86, of North Vernon passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A Rosary service will be held at 3:30 PM Thursday at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will follow from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born September 26, 1930, in Seymour, Helen was the daughter of William and Frances Ruth Reichle Ertel. She married William W. Rogers on August 17, 1950. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2011.
She retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center where she worked as a supply clerk. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She loved making floral arrangements, gardening, shopping, and reading.
She is survived by two sons, Donald (Jane) Rogers of Seymour, and Keith (Myra) Rogers of North Vernon; one daughter, Karen (Wayne) Geswein of North Vernon; grandchildren, Angela Miller, Andrew Rogers, Joshua, Jude, and Bree Geswein, Christian and Madison Rogers; great-grandchildren, Logan and Calvyn Geswein, and Jaxon Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Hilda & Margaret Ertel, Norma Carnes, Vitginia Clark, and Ruth Evelyn Helm; brothers, Raymond & William Ertel.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School.
