Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Davis

December 25, 1916 - December 16, 2009

Helen Elizabeth Davis, 92 of Butlerville passed away at 11:34 pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Jennings Health Care Facility in North Vernon.

Born on December 25, 1916 in Gas City, IN, she was the daughter of the late Thomas R. and Carrie E. McGinnis Spence. She married Robert J. Davis on April 23, 1947. He preceded her in death.

Helen had been employed as the town clerk in Jonesboro, IN and also worked as a social worker. She served God as a music director, Sunday School teacher, and youth leader at her church.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty Jean Millspaugh of Butlerville; two stepsons, William R. Davis of Marion and Ronald L. Davis of Mooreland, GA; five grandchildren, Debra Perez, Stacy Marley, and Tony, Scott, and Matthew Millspaugh; thirteen great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and 1 step-great-great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, a son, Tom Davis, and three brothers, Wayne and Cliff Spence and John Allman Jr.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Harrigan officiating. Visitation will from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday and from noon until the time of the service on Monday. Burial will be at Brush Creek Cemetery.
