Harold Albert Clarkson, 73, of North Vernon, passed away on December 3, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. The Rev. Connie Barr will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 6, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.
Born March 8, 1943, in Jennings County, Harold was the son of George and Juanita (Buchanan) Clarkson. He married Gina Empec in October 1999, and she survives.
Harold had been a barber in North Vernon for over 5 decades, and previously had worked in the gutter business and farming. Harold enjoyed his job very much, and always said, "I never work a day in my life." He was a member of Butlerville Mennonite Church, and he enjoyed traveling, fishing, living life to the fullest with his beloved friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Gina, survivors include three daughters, Lisa Thompson and Robin Reed, both of Columbus and Angela Martinez of Indianapolis; a son, Shane Clarkson of Edinburgh; four brothers, Gene (Ruth) and Dennis (Jenny) Clarkson of Westport, Bob (Mary) Clarkson of Seymour, and Gerry (Phyllis) Clarkson of North Vernon; a sister, Georgetta Gilmore of Columbus; ten grandchildren, Tiffany Thompson Viles, Nichole Young, Brittany Wright, Dylan, Zachary, Lilla and Jacob Clarkson, Mariana and Andrew Martinez and Shayna Whited; and seven great-grandchildren, Harper Viles, Aubrey and Alexa Young, Kinsley Tuck, Carlos and Emilliana Martinez and Elara Lowry
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Carl Mozingo; and sister, Peggy Robbins.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
