H. Joseph "Butch" Maschino, 65, of North Vernon passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenwood.
Born on May 20, 1950 in Jennings County, Joe was the son of Chester and Grace More Maschino. He married Patricia McKain on September 5, 1970.
He graduated from Jennings County High School in 1968. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Rich DD820 during the Vietnam Conflict. Joe owned and operated Maschino Small Engines in North Vernon for twenty-five years.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. For many years he dressed as Santa Claus for various organizations, community and family events. He also participated in parades, events, and trail riding activities riding his mule Lynn, and pulling his buggy.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Maschino of North Vernon; sons, Craig (Carrie) Maschino of Terre Haute, and Keith Maschino of Pineville, KY; sisters, Doris Tormoehlen, and Laverne Taskey of Seymour, Helen Elkins of Commiskey, and Christine Fordice of Hayden; brothers Alvin "Bud" Maschino, and Ernie Maschino of Hayden, and Alan Maschino of Commiskey; grandchildren, Spencer, Caroline, Meredith, Savannah, Cheyenne, Samantha, Austin, Kara, Nakia, and Jacob Maschino.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Carolyn Ann Spicer, and Marilyn Braley.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, December 4, 2015, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hayden. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery with military honors. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 3:30 PM Thursday at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
