Mrs. Gladys G. Allen

October 22, 1920 - June 24, 2014

Gladys G. Allen, 93, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Jennings Healthcare Center.

Born October 22, 1920 in Glendale, IL, Gladys was the daughter of the late Raymond and Annie Evitts Schumaker. She married Herman Allen and he preceded her in death.

Gladys retired from the American Restaurant Association. She enjoyed reading, her pets, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Johnson of North Vernon; a son, Robert Allen of North Vernon; and two sisters, Vivian Blades of Florida and Violet Eckstrom of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; step daughter, Patricia Smith; two sisters, Mabel Schumaker and Chloe Collie; and brother, Wayne Schumaker.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis.
