Gertrude "Sally" Coryell Shafer, 92, of Ashland City, TN, passed away at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Ashland City Hospital.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon.  Deacon Larry French will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.  Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Born May 26, 1923, in Erie, Pennsylvania, Sally was the daughter of the late Anthony and Beano (Maltia) O'Zello.  She married Francis Coryell who passed away on Oct. 31, 1973.  She later married Ernie Shafer who also preceded her in death.

Sally was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, the senior center, Moose Lodge and Eagle's Club of Gallatin, Tennessee.  She enjoyed her grandchildren, her hats, bingo, butterflies and music.

Sally is survived by one daughter, Marian Perry of Ashland City, TN; three sons, Bob Cantu of Detroit, MI, James Coryell of Lincoln Park, MI, and Robert Coryell of Reading, MI, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one grandchild, and eleven brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital through the funeral home.
