Gerald N. Amick, 89, of North Vernon passed away at 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Brown County Health and Living.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.  Terry and Jeff Amick will officiate.  Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery with military services provided by the U. S. Navy.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at the funeral home.

Born September 1, 1929, in Scottsburg, Gerald was the son of Frederick and Frances (Dismore) Amick.  He married Nancy Olmstead.  She survives.

He graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1947.  He served in the U.S. Navy and on the USS Valley Forge from 1948-50. Gerald attended Trinity Bible College for one year and had served as a former deacon at Scaffold Lick Baptist Church.  He had owned Amick Motors for 53 years.  Gerald was an avid IU basketball fan, enjoyed friends and talking with people.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Nancy Amick of North Vernon; sons, Terry (Pamela) Amick of Scottsburg, Jeff (Angie) Amick of Lexington, IN, and Tyler "T.J." Amick of North Vernon; daughter, Jill (Don) Collins of Lexington, IN; brother, William "Bill" Amick of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Matt, Kylie, Josh, and Elyse Amick, Ashley, Gavin and Mia Collins; great-grandchildren, Abby and Ben Amick and Mason Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd Amick; and brother, Michael D. Amick.
