Mr. George Applegate

George Arthur Applegate, 84, of North Vernon, passed away on April 4, 2013, at Jennings Healthcare Center in North Vernon.

Born January 13, 1929, in Spiceland, IN, George was the son of the late Samuel and Anna Thomas Applegate. He married Patricia Bullard on June 3, 1950. She survives.

George had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he owned and operated Spiceland Texaco for 16 years. He later worked at Amick's Dodge dealership in Greenfield. He retired in 1991 as a mechanic from Ruddick's Chrysler dealership in Seymour. He was currently a charter member of Lord's Chapel, and prior to moving to North Vernon, he was a member of Spiceland Friends Church. He enjoyed music, sports and especially his mechanic work.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, George Dennis and Ricky Dewayne Applegate; daughter, Sandra Ramer; and grandson, Tyler Lucas.

George was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, with Rev Thomas Applegate and Rev. Rick Matthews officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 pm until the time of service on Wednesday.
