Mrs. Genevieve Curry

December 14, 1920 - February 04, 2015

Genevieve "Skeet" Curry, 94, of North Vernon passed away at 12:40 am Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at the Lutheran Home in Seymour.

Born December 14, 1920 in Holton, Genevieve was the daughter of William G. and Madge Ensminger McNeelan. She married Robert W. Curry on August 18, 1942, and he preceded her in death on December 1, 2011.

She graduated from Holton High School, and then Cincinnati Business College. She moved to New York and worked in the war investigation office in the Empire State Building during WWII. She later moved back to Indiana and worked for Civil Service in Columbus, North Vernon Forge, and later retired from Jennings County High School after working twenty eight years as a secretary for several principals. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid golfer, and enjoyed oil painting, and traveling. She especially loved taking trips to the ocean.

Survivors include a son, Robert (Sherry) Curry, Jr. of North Vernon; a daughter, Margie (Rodney) Willman of Seymour; a brother, William "Bill" (Janie) McNeelan of Muncie; three grandchildren, Mark Curry, Ryan (Nicole) Curry, and Genevieve Jean (Jason) Curry; three great grandchildren, Eric Curry, Sophia Diane Curry and Lillian Grace Curry; several beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and caregiver and longtime friend, Becky Terry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Martin McNeelan; and sister, Neva Jane Baker Snider.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service with Bob Ochs officiating. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to First United Methodist Church, Jennings County Coordinating Council, Seymour Lutheran home, or to the donor's choice of charity.
