Gayle M. Martin, 71, of New Albany, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017, at her home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Richard Burcham will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Born November 12, 1945, in Columbus, Gayle was the daughter of Homer and Arena A. Lawdermilt Martin.

She had worked as a secretary before retiring. Currently she was working at Wal-Mart. She was a member of Calvary First Pentecostal Church in Jeffersonville.  She loved watching racing, listening to music, and spending time with her children.

Gayle is survived by sons, James Martin of Hardinsburg and Roger Turnquist of Columbus; one daughter, Jerilyn Atkins of North Vernon; one sister, Linda VanVolkenburg of North Vernon; two brothers, Robin Lawdermilt of North Vernon, and Tim Lawdermilt; several grandchildren, great – grandchildren and great - great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Darrel Martin.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the family for expenses.
