Gary Lee Ritchie, 67, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:05 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born March 5, 1949, in Richmond, KY, Gary was the son of Victor and Anna Mae (Armstrong) Ritchie. He graduated from Leatherwood High School in Perry County, Kentucky. In August 1975, he married Vickie Galliher. She survives.

Gary served in the United States Navy from 1968 until 1974, and was stationed on the USS Shangri-La from 1968 to 1970. He had been employed at Seymour Tubing, and was a member of the AmVets. He enjoyed working at the farmer's market, being outdoors, fishing and hunting.

In addition to his wife, Vickie, Gary is survived by two sons, Bradley (Amanda) Ritchie and Chuck (Tina) Ritchie, both of North Vernon; sister, Mary Kay Ritchie Cornett of Fisty, KY; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
