Freda L. White, 86, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018, in Terre Haute.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.  Rev. Ron Bridgewater will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 18th, at the funeral home.

Born November 26, 1931, in Indianapolis, Freda was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Odom Bowles.  She married Jerry White on September 6, 1947 and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2004.

She retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis after 30 years.  Freda was a member of First Baptist Church (North Vernon) and enjoyed crocheting, fishing, traveling and animals.

Freda is survived by a sister, Beverly Foster of Mooresville; brothers, Russell Bowles of Indianapolis and David Bowles of Beach Grove; niece and caregiver, Beverly Woodyard of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Betty Welch, Inez Ihlenfeldt, and Juanita Lowder; and three brothers, Raymond Bowles, James and George VanLandingham.
