Mr. Erik S. Mathis

Erik S. Mathis, 37 of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday morning, November 2, 2011 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

Born on November 29, 1973 in Columbus, Erik was the son of the late Jerry Mathis and Susan Mayhugh Mills. She survives.

Erik had been a member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church, Rigacci Family Motorsports and Sharps Family Racing. He enjoyed golf, NASCAR, sports and restoring his truck.

Survivors include his daughter, Ashley Mathis of North Vernon, his mother Susan Mills of North Vernon, a brother, Darren (Michelle) Mathis of North Vernon, two nephews, Bradley (Shelby) Brown and Dustin Mathis, one niece, Meranda Mathis, and a great-nephew, Clayton Brown.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Mathis.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon with Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Friday evening and from noon until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
