Eric Thompson, 57, of North Vernon passed away at 5:37 PM Saturday, August 31, 2013 at St. Vincent - Jennings Hospital Emergency Room.
Born February 21, 1956, Eric was the son of Charles and Erma Massey Thompson. He married Rayann Mick , August 24, 1975, she survives.
Eric graduated from Jennings County High School in 1974. He graduated from Jacksonville University with a degree in Political Science. He had owned Thompson Motors in North Vernon, and currently was employed by Gartlitch Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep , and Fiat as a salesman. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus council 1631, played golf in the Twilight League at Ford's Crossing Golf Course, and was an avid sports fan. He dearly loved being a grandfather to his grandson Jesse. He had also served his community on the North Vernon City Council, and Jennings County School Board.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Rayann Thompson, of North Vernon; sons, Zachary and Joseph Thompson, both of North Vernon; daughters, Emily Thompson (Colin Hill) of Denver, CO, and Caitlin Thompson of North Vernon; grandson, Jesse Ryder Thompson; brothers, Terry (Judy) Thompson and Tracy (Amy) Thompson of North Vernon; father and mother-in-law, Jim and AnnaMargaret Mick; sisters-in-law, Darlene (Rick) Williams, Nancy (Rob) Apsley, Carolyn (Ron) Hensley, Sandra (Scott) Clark; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. A Rosary service will be conducted at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
