Elmalee I. Barr, 91, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:38 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.   A rosary service will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.  Visitation will follow from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born November 29, 1925, in Jackson County, IN, Elmalee was the daughter of the late John and Pearl Downs Hauersperger.  She graduated from Hayden High School in 1943.  She married Leslie Barr on January 15, 1949 and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1997.

Elmalee is survived by two daughters, Gloria (Jim) Lamaster of North Vernon and Beverly Hodson of Apollo Beach, FL; one son, Brian Barr of Danville, IL; one sister, Sarah Taskey of Seymour; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pearl Hauersperger; her husband, Leslie Barr; one daughter, Jeralee May; five brothers, Paul, Francis, Horace, John and Dale Hauersperger; and eight sisters, Margaret Beineke, Myrtle Bauerley, Opal Speck, Clara Speck, Martha Hauersperger, Golda Wilkerson, Esther Rayburn and Carol Hauersperger.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Mary's Church.

Friends and family are invited to a dinner at St. Mary's Parish Center immediately following the services.
